Probate Magistrate Heather Shannon brings the depth of experience and principled leadership that Greene County families deserve. Appointed in 2022 to the Montgomery County Probate Court, she has presided over more than two thousand probate matters, including adoptions, estates, guardianships, trusts, and mental illness cases. In every case, Probate Magistrate Shannon’s commitment to fairness, efficiency, and compassion shines through, ensuring that every individual who comes before the court is treated with dignity and respect.
Recognized for her innovative vision, Probate Magistrate Shannon was entrusted with developing the Montgomery County Probate Resource Center and launched the Self-Help Center, both of which are groundbreaking initiatives. These initiatives have empowered families to navigate probate matters more easily, saving time, money, and unnecessary stress for court patrons.

Before stepping onto the bench, Heather Shannon spent 15 years practicing probate and family law in Greene County. Her extensive legal background combined with real-world experience serving families during their most critical moments gives her a uniquely well-rounded and rare perspective essential for serving as Probate Judge. She understands not just the letter of the law, but the profound human impact of every decision made in probate court.

Throughout her career, Probate Magistrate Shannon has been a leader in the legal community. She is a past President of the Greene County Bar Association and served as Chair of its Grievance and Ethics Committee, helping to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct. As a respected educator, she regularly trains local attorneys and court staff in probate law and procedure, helping shape a stronger legal system for the future.
Her leadership isn't limited to inside the courtroom — it extends across Greene County's legal community and touches the lives of those who rely on a fair and trustworthy judicial system.
DEEP ROOTS IN GREENE COUNTY
Heather Shannon’s story is deeply intertwined with Greene County’s own. Raised in Beavercreek, she graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1999 and Wright State University in 2003. Heather earned her law degree at the University of Dayton School of Law while continuing to live and work in Beavercreek. She also started her law practice in Xenia, Ohio 18 years ago. Today, she proudly calls Bellbrook home, where she and her husband are raising their four children. Greene County isn’t just where she worked; it’s where she grew up, where she built her career, and where she is raising the next generation.
